Eden I&R has launched a two-way texting pilot for tax preparation assistance information in Alameda County. Although 2-1-1 staff have been texting referral information to callers over the last several years, this recent enhancement now allows for staff to conduct live texting conversations with those wishing to converse via texting. Tax season is here! Call 2-1-1 for information on free tax preparation assistance and the California Earned Income Tax Credit. Trained volunteers at VITA sites offer free tax filing assistance through April 15 (dates and times vary by site). VITA volunteers help taxpayers prepare basic tax return forms.
