Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH)

The Veterans Housing Rover works with veterans to secure deposits, back rent payments, utility assistance, furniture, housing and any other services that will allow them to become and stay self-sufficient.

The Veterans Housing Rover meets with clients at Eden I & R, VA Behavioral Health, and other public places close to the veteran's home. The regularly scheduled days at the Behavioral Health Clinic are Mondays and Thursdays. The Rover also meets with veterans on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays by appointment. The Veterans Housing Rover meets with all case managers on a one-on-one basis either in person, by phone, or e-mail to discuss progress of clients and status updates regarding various assistance requests made on behalf of clients.

The Veterans Housing Rover continues to help clients apply for utility assistance and get applications turned in to the proper location. The Housing Rover checks back with the Spectrum program to make sure that the applications have been processed. The Veterans Housing Rover has encouraged newly housed vets to apply for the CARE program through PG&E as soon as they make arrangements to have power turned on in their name. The Rover also encourages them to apply for the HEAP program, before their bills become past due as HEAP pledges a monthly amount towards the utility bill (if they qualify) regardless of whether or not someone is past due.
